Re: Any questions
Clean, tuned, and solid bedded traps are the key I belive.I struggled my first year coyote trapping because I could not get pan tension correct.Pan tension should be around 5 lbs.I tried and tried with victor and duke #3 coil springs and could not get it right. The next season I bought some dogless montana #3 it made all the differance the pan tension is right from the start with these traps.I dont set a big coyote line or anything like that but I was able to get 7 coyotes out of 7 sets in less than a week.Dirt hole sets work best for me on crop changes.I do not use urine on my sets only bait and lure or just lure.I bed my trap solid as I can about 8 inches back from the hole and offset it a couple inches.Another big key I think is after sifting your dirt over the trap I take the end of my shovel handle (shovel without the d handle on the end)and gently make a small impression on the trap pan to simulate a paw print. The majority of the time the coyote is going to put his foot on the impression this gives you a good target area to get the yote to step where you whant and also works good if the trap isnt quit bedded stable. Also shove a wad of grass in your dirt hole to make the yote work the set more instead of just looking in the hole and leaving he will be more abpt to work the set if he cant see what is in it.Dont forget to block the lose jaw it dosnt take much more than a small stick or stone

Re: Any questions
The backing and guides are used to deter coyte from digging out backside of the set.I usually try to make my sets with tall grass backing that is naturaly there
